Hypnosis can be a very effective way to get to the root of an issue and create lasting change, if desired. We will work together to create a clear picture of your goal, and you will be in complete control during the session.
If you can relax and concentrate, you can be hypnotized.
You actually go into hypnosis (altered states of consciousness) every day when you daydream or get lost in a television program. The difference between these everyday examples and what we will do here is that this is an intentional altered state of consciousness used to promote desired change.
It is important to remember that there is no right or wrong way for the hypnosis session to occur. Everyone experiences the session in their own unique way. You may feel very relaxed, you may recall all or most of the session, or you may only recall certain portions of the session. However you experience the session is perfect. There is no right or wrong way to feel or experience it. The experience is different for every individual.
Prior to the session the practitioner will work one-on-one with you discussing your goals and desires for the session(s); typically, your desire to resolve a problem or seek a solution to a habit. Once you are comfortable with the plan for the session, the hypnosis portion of the session will occur, where you will sit back and the practitioner will guide you through some relaxation exercises and count you down into the trance. Once you are in the trance, the practitioner will state your goal to you and restate how it would feel for you to reach the goal. At that point, because you are in such a relaxed state and your conscious (logical) mind has stepped aside for a moment, the suggestions are going directly to your subconscious mind. However, you still have the ability to accept or reject any suggestion that is given to you. (This is why it is essential that the change you are seeking is something you truly desire.) Then the practitioner will count you back up and bring you back to conscious awareness. This will be followed by a short follow-up interview to discuss your experience.
